Ninety nine companions of our order met up for the annual provincial Grand Senatus of Durham and Northumberland. More than 100 companions had registered to attend but due to capacity restrictions they had exceeded the maximum allowed and only 99 could partake; distinguished guests and visitors from 12 sister provinces in UK and the world including the Grand Summus M.Dist.Comp. Ian S. Currans his Deputy R.Dist.Comp. Francis C. Spencer and the Assitant R.Dist.Comp. Howard S. Markham.
After the usual pre meeting banter and jolity the provincial Grand Summus Michael Jaques called the meeting to order at 11:00 and formally welcomed distinguished guest and visitors immediately followed by a moments silence in memory of departed merit. After the mundane business of the meeting, Michael re-appointed and installed the new provincial team and thanked them all for their continued efforts and support, he gave a comprehensive address after which he invited the Grand Summus to speak to the companions. During his address Ian stressed the importance of holding a meeting when and where possible within the present guidelines. After many warm greetings and congratulations on the organisation of such a successful and well attended virtual meeting, it was declared closed at 11:31. It was followed immediately by another virtual meeting of the festive board in a more relaxed dress code and some forty companions took the opportunity to toast their friends and look forward to when we may meet again in person
